Response: In response to comments that it was not clear from the proposed instructions how hospitals should crosswalk the MAO's payment methodology to an MS-DRG for payers that do not use the MS-DRG as a basis of payment, as discussed in the CY 2026 OPPS/ASC proposed rule (90 FR 33808) if there are codes identified that are not MS-DRG codes, or discharges that are not classified to MS-DRGs, the hospital would crosswalk those codes or classify those discharges to MS-DRGs
