This painting is in our Cecil Court gallery

Indeed Whitten was a devotee of Duncan Grant and a purchaser of at least one of his works

Rural life hadn’t changed much up until the Great War and comely young milk maids were a popular inspiration for many of the leading painters of the day

Alan Lee reserved a bit of Camden Town"The first work by Alan that I saw was his book Faeries which he co created with Brian Froud. From that point on I collected and studied his work, from his book illustrations for Castles and The Lord of the Rings and beyond. It was, however, his incredible rendering of The Mabinogion that really astounded me. I find his work utterly beautiful, magical, and immersive. When I visited him in Dartmoor, we talked mainly about the tango."
