There is a female and a male mask. The female mask has a wide open mouth, extended tongue, and many wrinkles. The male with the mouth closed and large horns. The masks were worn in two traditional dances, "Otonari" and "Hahagaura ura," to the rhythm of flutes and drums. The dance protects against natural disasters and demons and
